To begin, you’ll need to download the KICKER test tones: The engineers at KICKER have taken the guesswork, and hassle, out of matching the output voltage of your source unit to the amplifier with the Gain Matching feature. In any audio system, the goal is to reach maximum input and output levels without distortion or clipping. If the GAIN knob’s backlight comes on, the input is still clipping. Next, slowly turn (clockwise) the gain on the amplifier up until you see the Gain LED light up or hear audible distortion, then turn it down a little. KICKER recommends using these test tones to reach the most accurate and best performing settings. For a quick setup, turn the source unit up to about 3/4 volume (if the source unit goes to 30, turn it to 25). It matches the output of the source unit to the input level of the amplifier and features Gain Matching to prevent clipping the input. Input Gain Control with Gain Matching: The input gain control is not a volume control. KEY200.4 / KEY180.4 Smart Amplifier Test Tones IE -5db gain setting track needs to use -5db Key sweep tone. Once you have chosen the correct Gain track for you gain setting please make sure you use the matching Sweep track to ensure correct KEY operation. With this set up you can get some clipping from the amplifier.

The app includes a free sine wave generator that generates signals from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a 48 kHz sample rate, 16-bit samples, and 96 dB of dynamic range.

The basic app produces sine waves, and it can be extended and customized (via in-app purchases) to produce white noise, pink noise, frequency sweeps, and (on iPhone 4 and better) square waves, sawtooth waves, and triangle waves. Signal Generator is an app that produces audio test tones.
